Participants in Dynamic Dating complete a portfolio and a display board to demonstrate knowledge acquired on various topics related to dating. In ECO participants must make a display board demonstrating their increased knowledge and public awareness of the “Green Movement.
Chelsi Gilbert, Patsy Valencia, Grant Veerkamp, Olivia Rigby, and Byron Haley demonstrated on display boards their increased knowledge of the elderly and the chapter’s community involvement with the elderly. Shelby Sparkman received a Gold Medal in Fashion Construction and is also a National Qualifier since she placed first in this state competition. Shelby made a garment with at least 8 different construction details and displayed appropriate accessories during the oral presentation. Participants in Life Event Planning must manage the costs of and plan for an upcoming occasion.
Haley, Rigby, and Veerkamp qualified for national competition in Orlando, Florida in July of this year. This competition requires participants to prepare an original recipe containing at least four food groups. Participants must test the product, develop a package and marketing strategy, and display food safety in the product preparation. Power of One completers who attended conference were also recognized.
The chapter with the most points by March 1st will win reserved seating at the State Leadership Conference and an activity with the State Executive Council. The fee will cover two 2 meals Thursday lunch and dinner banquet , registration materials, and conference administration expenses.
